“Juggling frogs would be easier than this”, she screamed.

“What for the breakfast today?”, checked the Innocent Baby as a routine.

Have you wondered why kids these days check what’s for the breakfast even before brushing their teeth in the morning? But let me not divert your attention, as of now. Lets head back to Nutty family’s residence where the drama is unfolding.

“Will you mind getting ready for the school”, replied Mrs Chitterchatter with a stern voice.

Before the little girl could say anything further, Mrs Chitterchatter darted, “Off to the bathroom”

Morning had dawn on the family with doom! No, no no…let me correct… it was doom only for Mrs Chitterchatter.

Snoozing the alarm had costed her dearly. Hell hath no fury like a woman who got up late!

When she got out of the bed, time was running out of her hands and had picked up the pace of Rajdhani Express*. Milk had to be boiled, hot chocolate had to be served to the kids. Tea had to be prepared for Mr Balanced. Coffee had to be brewed for herself. Breakfast had to be dished out too. The list seemed unending and it exploded as a chain reaction in her mind.

Drama got intense when she tumbled over the skipping rope lying royally on the floor near the kitchen.

“Oh gosh! Wish things had legs of their own”, the volcano finally erupted.

It shook the household and everyone felt the tremors.

Picking up herself, she opened the door to fetch the fresh supply of milk. When the bag hung outside felt empty, a lightning flashed in her mind. She had forgotten to keep the milk coupons in the bag for the milkman. Cursing self, she reached out for her mobile. It was nowhere to be found.

“Why do I forget to keep the mobile in pajama pockets?”, she rebuked herself.

Finally, when she laid her hands on it and called the milkman, he was half way through to his home… no respite in sight!

As a second line of defence, she dialled the security fella at the reception of their apartment. The intercom kept on ringing in loop.

“Sun will rise from North if we ever find this gentleman answering our calls when needed”, she rumbled.

Mr Balanced was in washroom and that meant she was the lone soldier to fight situation.

Dashing out of the house, she decided to catch hold of any milkman from the campus she gets to spot. Though she returned home with milk, she had to let go off precious 15-20 minutes.

“I don’t have hundred hands”, she grunted setting the expectations of the three-some. Being in pensive mood, she failed to notice few things at the dinning table.

“We drank apple juice”, informed the boy.

“We will have breakfast at the school canteen”, added the girl.

“Thought of having green tea today. Come have a sip”, said Mr Balanced in his signature comforting tone.

Mrs Chitterchatter turned around with a great surprise and was about to sob. The boy winked and said while leaving for the bus stop, “Have never seen you juggling frogs. Why don’t you give us a demo?”

“Naughty goblin”, said Mrs Chitterchatter waving them a good bye.

“Peace prevails”, said the man of the house sipping from his cup.

“Mean?”, she checked.

Next… next what? Try your hands at juggling the frogs first. Will then share what happened next!!!

What an understanding family Mrs Chitterchatter has . So all that juggling was in vain ! But I know this story all too well ….. have even followed the milk man to get my bag of milk

    Anagha Yatin · April 11, 2018 at 10:36 am

Mr Balanced, I have learnt, has a great knack of ringing in peace in most dramatic situations! And yes, Mrs Chitterchatter has postponed the juggling frogs for till next time.
    Thanks Sunita.

Morning time is indeed mayhem and snoozing the alarm can cost a woman dearly. Loved how the kids and Mr Balanced helped to calm down the situation.

    Anagha Yatin · April 11, 2018 at 10:50 am

Ya, they do stand up for each other! Thanks Akshata.

knightofsteel · April 11, 2018 at 10:53 am

Love the way everyone there seems to be a crisis or issues that the mom faces, the family comes together to help her out. That is the true spirit of a family. Although, it would be even better if she didn’t have to do all the work alone.

    Anagha Yatin · April 11, 2018 at 11:07 am

Yeh…little more needs to be done on that front. Believe its beginning…so far so good! Thanks Arjun.

You know what this is one of the most hectic morning, and I have had my share of these. Plenty number of times, but with me the temperament soars sky high. Here you made us all laugh through the post.

Love how you turn everyday routine into such hilarious reads. That empty milk bottle and things on the floor coming in the way are so relatable. You have a gift for turning the ordinary into extraordinary, Mrs. chitterchatter.

Iain Kelly · April 11, 2018 at 3:09 pm

This is so typical the world over, struggling to keep on top of things, trying to do what you think is right, and when you do, the kids have changed their mind! 🙂 Great fun read.

Disha · April 12, 2018 at 12:15 am

Story of my mom’s life! The day when she would decide to rest longer in the morning, everything would turn upside down. I must say Nutty family is very understanding & can handle any situation well. 🙂
