“Nan, what’s that?”, asked Mikhail with curiosity.

Ludmilla was taken by surprise. She was so engrossed in the photo that she did not notice the footsteps approaching her room. Jostled by the query, she chinned up, her eyes welling.

Mikhail, was taken aback at that sight. Till date he had seen only the smiling, dimpled face of his favourite nanny, Ludmilla whom he called ‘Nan’ fondly.

All but seven, Mikhail was very mature of his age. “Missing someone? Can I see?”, holding his hand in-front, he supplicated.

Ludmilla involuntarily handed the photo to him.

“Blue sky with white clouds! Have you seen them?” he asked. “Is this how your houses are? Colourful?”, he quizzed. “Here we have black sky, no clouds and white dome shaped houses. Can we go and live there?”

Ludmilla’s heart melted at that. Tears rolled down her cheeks.

Mikhail stood clueless. For he didn’t know that Ludmilla, to support her family on Earth, was serving a long-term contract of baby sitting job at Human Colony on Moon.

    Anagha Yatin · July 17, 2018 at 8:10 pm

Hahaha…football world cup hangover may be!
On a serious note, I found the alleys to be from foreign land. And then it occurred to me that the first person to go in space was Uri Gagrin, who was Russian. So the Russian connect!
Appreciate your observation. Thanks for visit.
