It was going to be a rare sight. Everyone was excited about it. Barely a month into the new year, and there was going to be a happy surprise, courtesy celestial performers. Got it? Not yet? Ok, no problem. It was going to be a celestial drama involving the Moon, our own very Earth and the Sun! On January 31st, it was going to be “the blue blood moon” and the lunar eclipse.

The euphoria around the event reached crescendo as the D day was approaching. Innocent Baby however was little clueless. She could not comprehend the noise around it. Mr Balanced took the opportunity to explain it with the help of simple things found in house. With a tennis ball, a volley ball and a torch he demonstrated the eclipse to the curious mind.

Come evening, everyone from the apartment where our “Nutty family” resided, was seen taking the elevator to the terrace. Theirs is a 20-story building with a terrace on the top. The Giant Kid had already kept his DSLR and tripod ready. He had made sure that extra batteries and zoom lenses were packed too!

Up on the terrace, everyone was eager and excited. The rounds of laughter along with the murmurs of gossips were heard in scattered pockets. As the evening grew darker, gathering grew impatient; for there was no sight of the Moon!

A group of men got involved discussing “smog” and poor quality of air. The discussion on “exhibition cum sale” at the nearby community hall kept the ladies busy. The kids got playing games. Suddenly came a call out, “There it is”. Everyone got attentive. The expressions like “oh”, “wow”, “fantastic” filled the air!

Ten fifteen minutes into it, the curiosity started fizzing out. Mr Balanced walked up to one corner of the terrace. He was checking out the neighbourhood. The nearby building and streets were illuminated with lights by then. Their glow stood out in contrast with the darkness of the night. The neighbourhood looked as if it was a mine of jewels!  Mr Balanced, walked up to the other corner of the terrace and checked on the opposite side of the building.

Mrs Chitterchatter had noticed him walking towards the corner. She grew curious. So here she was, standing next to him. Looking at the bejeweled look of the neighbourhood, she exclaimed, “What a pretty sight even on Earth! Aren’t we living in the great locality?”

Her excitement was met with a nonchalance in the eyes of Mr Balanced. “It’s a concrete jungle! Everything artificial. So much away from nature”, came a statement by Mr Balanced, in his signature even tone; leaving Mrs Chitterchatter pondering and speechless.

Concrete jungle or Glittering Jewels, what is it according to you? If you get an answer, come over for a “Chai pe characha“* at Nutty family’s residence, some day!

It is a bejewelled concrete jungle I would say! Love reading about this family!:)

    Anagha Yatin · April 3, 2018 at 4:40 pm

True that…bit of both the worlds! Thanks Mayuri for visiting.

Varad · April 3, 2018 at 8:05 am

All that glitters is not gold. You can put a diamond necklace on a dustbin, end of the day it still is a dustbin. Sadly, that’s the world we live in. Another fun tale from the Nutty family.

On Mr Balanced’s side…seem that his side weighs more! Thanks for visiting and sharing your view Varad.

You can put all the high tech lighting on skyscrapers and it might look great, but the sight of a garden or a valley blossoming with flowers, or a coniferous forest atop a mountain – these gives real pleasure and peace.

        Anagha Yatin · April 3, 2018 at 5:17 pm

Absolutely agree that! Nothing can beat a natural settings.

SeemaMisra · April 3, 2018 at 8:44 am

You’ve captured the blood moon evening so well …

    Anagha Yatin · April 3, 2018 at 4:48 pm

Thank you Seema for appreciation. Thanks for visit as well.

Akshata Ram · April 3, 2018 at 9:07 am

A bit of both . It’s really difficult to say. With development one has to pay a price.

    Anagha Yatin · April 3, 2018 at 5:03 pm

Price tag of growth! Thanks Akshata for adding value to the discussion on the topic.

Akshata Ram · April 3, 2018 at 9:08 am

A bit of both, with dwbelopment often comes a heavy price

Ramya Abhinand · April 3, 2018 at 9:22 am

Loved the nutty family. but if I had to get thinking about the concrete jungle or a jewels, it is nothing but a concrete jungle, artificial in every way!

    Anagha Yatin · April 3, 2018 at 5:05 pm

Thanks Ramya for sharing your honest opinion on the topic.

I like to consider them glittering jewels. There is very little today that is still natural and it seems like even the trees around us grow in places we want them to grow, or to the height that is convenient for us. True nature seems to have been lost long back

    Anagha Yatin · April 3, 2018 at 6:07 pm

Thanks Arjun for sharing your views.

Namratha Varadharajan · April 3, 2018 at 11:24 am

Nice series you have got going here Anagha. From aheight it does look like glittering jewels. When you go near the concrete jungle becomes more evident.

    Anagha Yatin · April 3, 2018 at 6:10 pm

Namratha, you got my vibes absolutely right. I had the same thought! Thanks for visiting and sharing your view.

sukrisblog · April 3, 2018 at 11:41 am

Wow I do feel it is a glittering jewel and hope it remains so before it fully turns into a concrete jungle devoid of the green glitters.

    Anagha Yatin · April 3, 2018 at 6:11 pm

Aha…green glitters! Thats a new line of thinking Sudha. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

mahekg · April 3, 2018 at 11:45 am

I feel many a times concrete jungle, when I pass by roads I feel I am travelling also in one. I am enjoying the snippets of the nutty family ?

    Anagha Yatin · April 3, 2018 at 6:12 pm

Thanks Manisha for your love towards the Nutty family!

Mr Balanced is right, nature will always be more impressive, no matter what we come up with!

Aah difficult to say Anagha, a bit of both actually. I also sensed the agony in Mr.Balanced. It definitely is a post with a deep message dear ♥️

Thanks Roma for visiting and sharing your view on the topic.

Thats the best way to describe a concrete jungle

    Thanks Anchal.

CRD · April 3, 2018 at 9:05 pm

Technology and infrastructure have made life simpler. But yeah, we all need to maintain some connect with nature to remain ‘human’. This is a story most people will relate to.

    Anagha Yatin · April 4, 2018 at 8:31 am

Thats a solid point! Thanks Christopher for sharing your views. Thanks for visiting and sharing your view Christopher.

Varsh · April 3, 2018 at 9:41 pm

Both of you were looking at the other side of the grass, and both weren’t wrong. Those jewels are the closest we can come to lights in a concrete jungle!

    Anagha Yatin · April 4, 2018 at 6:16 pm

You are right Varsh. Two opposite sides!
Thanks for visiting and sharing your view.

The glimmering, glittering look of the city is magnetic. Thanks Bernadette for visiting and sharing your views.

Deepa · April 3, 2018 at 10:36 pm

Its all about how you want to look at it. It is definitely a jungle out there but its beautiful if you think of it that way. Enjoying your stories Anagha.

    Anagha Yatin · April 4, 2018 at 6:22 pm

Perspective does matter, so rightly said Deepa. Thanks for visiting.

Ravish Mani · April 3, 2018 at 10:38 pm

Hehehe…I’m more interest in the topic of ‘exhibition cum sale.’ I’m liking the family. Well written, Anagha 🙂

    Anagha Yatin · April 4, 2018 at 6:32 pm

Me too Ravish. Thanks for visiting and sharing your thoughts.

Emily Bloomquist · April 4, 2018 at 6:22 am

Love your description of the evening. As much as I enjoy looking at glittering city lights. I prefer a sky full of stars without artificial light from the concrete jungle. Until I need to find the bathroom…

It is a concrete jungle which on happy nights are glittering gems. Its all a game of perception. 🙂

Ruchie · April 4, 2018 at 4:29 pm

I love the couple … and want to join them chai pe charcha!!

    Anagha Yatin · April 4, 2018 at 10:21 pm

Will convey them your message Ruchie! I am sure they would be more than happy to welcome you. 🙂 Thanks for visiting.

milan · April 4, 2018 at 6:50 pm

Its all individual’s perception!! I empathize with Mr.Balanced and at the same time liked the positive outlook of Mrs. Chitterchatter. loved the way you weave the words in a story Anagha.

Shilpa Garg · April 4, 2018 at 10:02 pm

It’s all about perspective. Interesting how the siblings have two contrasting views of the same thing. It’s wonderful the way you are allowing them to express their individuality, Anagha 🙂

Well you made me think. No way anything man made will beat natural beauty. But then beauty lies in the eyes of beholder, so Mr. Balanced you are lucky to have someone who decides to see beauty around than complain.
If he still don’t agree, suggest to buy a bungalow in Lonavala with a valley view 🙂

Dipika Singh (@gleefulblogger) · April 5, 2018 at 6:09 pm

Isn’t it bit of both, these are perks of living in city of odds I would say. I like your expression a little more, as I am so much like the Mrs. point of view.

Aesha · April 5, 2018 at 11:51 pm

Both I guess. In the silence of the night I miss the sound & in the noises of the day I miss the peace. City life is such.

An@m! · April 5, 2018 at 11:58 pm

That reminded me of a similar situation which got spoiled due to these concrete jungles.

Can’t wait to read more! I fell a little bit behind, looking forward to catching up!

There’s some great message in this story. Loved the way you have conveyed it. Indeed, the life we all live in the cities is made up of concrete jungle and artificial people!
