Mr Balanced and Giant Little Kid love to challenge each other over the game of chess. One fine day they were in the thick of action on the chequered board. Mrs Chitterchatter’s mobile phone rang. Checking the number displayed, she handed it over to the chap.

“Yeah, tell me”, the boy says.

#$%#$%#$%#$%#$%#$% (thats his friend, which obviously could not be heard)

“CTN”, boy again.

“PAL” responded boy in low tone.

“Hmmm. CYT”, and the boy disconnected the line. He resumed the game.

“Whose move?”

With much astonishment Mr Balanced asked, “Are they teaching you a new language in school?”

“Nope”, replied the boy who was figuring out the rook’s position

“Which language was that?”

“Which? Oh the one over the phone?”, the boy said with titter. “Short forms”

“Teach me too”, requested the man.

With sparkle in his eyes, the boy replied, “But at price”

“That’s not fair”

“Leave it then. Your move”

“Ok. What’s the tag?”

“Iron Man movie, this week end” demanded the boy

“Done. Let’s start right away Sir”, asserted the man.

“2nte” replied the boy.

“Mean?”

“Tonight”

“Why not now?” asked father.

“CTN” replied the boy

Puzzled, the man sought explanation, “Now what’s that?”

“Can not talk now”

“Why? Whats stopping you?”, probed father.

“What about the game?”

The man’s interest in receiving the language lessons was thoroughly aroused by then and he grew impatient.

“I forfeit. You win”, said the man

“Gr8” exclaimed the boy. Looking at the puzzled face of father he clarified, “Gr8 means great”

“Aha. But let me fetch my diary. I need to jot them down. I will be right back”, said the man.

“Its BRB…be right back”, said the boy correcting his pupil.

“Yes. BRB”

“Nope”

“Now what?”

“Say yup n not yes”

“Yup. Got it!”

“Nope. Say Gotcha”

“Hahaha… Yup Gotcha”

“Its E123” assured the boy expanding the term “Easy as 1 2 3”

“Gr8” replied father. “I am keeping my fingers crossed” he said.

“That’s FC”

“Gotcha”

As he could not find the diary, he called out the boy and asked, “Have any idea where I kept my diary?”

“IDK – I don’t know” replied the boy without moving from his place.

“Wait for a while then”

“Say W8”

All this while Mrs Chitterchatter was busy with some chores. When she finished, she was intrigued to hear the cryptic conversation between the father and son.

“Whats happening?”, she questioned.

“CWOT” replied the boy.

By this time the man had returned with his diary and pen. He jotted down “CWOT” as the first entry under the heading “Language Lessons”

“What does that mean?”, he asked.

“Complete waste of time” replied the boy with a chuckle. He was joined in his laughter by his mother. That turned Mr Balanced’s face sour enough to curdle the milk.

“Iron Man movie cancelled”, he declared, closing his diary and sounding upset. But it did not last long. He joined the laughter too!
