The play area of the society where I live comes to life every evening. Right from tiny tots to “Nana- Nani” brigade, you can find the assemblies of different age groups busy in their worlds here. While the children get high jinks from the games and unrestrained activities, the mothers settle down on the benches nearby to catch up with friends.

That day was no different. Most of my friends had gathered at our favourite spot. Soon, we all got busy in discussing the hot topic of “time table” of the children’s periodic exams. As each one had some or the other advice to offer on the topic or a grudge about the syllabus, I wondered who was listening to whom. Thats the case of many eminent speakers for the round table conference! But it’s a sign of normalcy for us. We all speak at the same time and yet find an ear and a head nodding in affirmation at regular interval!

I was totally lost in listening to one of my friend, when there was a tap on my shoulder. As I turned around, I saw Meera smiling ear to ear. I was surprised to see a bright, smiley face of Meera.

Meera was the one who had the most challenging life amongst us. Courtesy her maid or the milkman or the washer man or the vegetable vendor or the driver of the rickshaw she would be travelling, she had to deal with insurmountable difficulties on daily basis. Every day the challenges changed the face for her. But that was not her fault. It was the cosmic forces that conspired to make her life most uncomfortable. She would discuss the same at length, sitting in the comforts of her luxurious air-conditioned penthouse.

So here she was right in front of me. Suddenly the hot discussion happening in the group evaporated and was lost in thin air. Every one’s eyes were locked on her face as if she had turned the 8th wonder of the world!

“Hey Meera, how are you? Have the challenges of the life called a day off?”, quizzed Rupa

“Oh, come on. Listen, I have good news to share”, replied Meera.

“Where are the sweets then?”, I checked.

“Oh ho, Savita, let me share the news first”, she sounded petulant this time. “I have set up a support group”, she continued.

“Support group for all the universally challenged people like you?”, said Anu with hint of derision.

Turning a deaf year to it, Meera continued further. “And it will be open 24 hours a day for discussion and support. I have promised to respond to the queries ASAP and to the best of my ability. As I have set up the group, I have to shoulder the Admin duties”

“That’s so good Meera. Now, you will be busy with something worthwhile and put yourself to good use”, I appreciated.

“What is this support group about Meera?”, checked Prasanna growing curious.

“Oh…this is what happens when I get excited! I should have shared that in the first place. But happens you know”, she clarified the air in the most animated way. “I have set up a what’s app group of all the mothers from my son’s class. There is so much of confusion every day about the syllabus, homework, note book completion, worksheets submissions, portions and what not! We all know it so well. Being the Admin of this group, I have a lot of responsibilities you see”, she said in one breath.

Let me inform you dear readers that Meera’s son is a three and half year toddler. This is his first step into the world of formal schooling. If your child is a class mate of Meera’s son, do join this “Open 24hrs” support group set up by Meera…

This is my 7th post to celebrate Write Tribes annual Festival Of Words that encourages one and all to #WriteBravely

This was so hilarious!

The kind of luxuries she’s anointed with & the way you put her ‘challenges’ forth are exactly our thoughts about such specimens who behave like they’re all Hercules!

Hahaha. People like Meera need a support group to even exist! Such important work she has, you wouldn’t know at all! Do keep us posted on how her Admin work is draining her. 😛
