“Hope you remember our rule of no electronic media after 9 pm?”, asked Mrs Chitterchatter with firm tone after checking the wall clock and finding better half busy with laptop, one night.

Off late, Mr Balanced was frequently busy with his laptop, defying the rule at that hour of the day. Morning also saw him neck deep into pink and white pages of financial newspaper

“Will you let me ever forget that?”, countered Mr Balanced with a smile.

“Whats the use? You are defying the rule of the land”

“Her Highness, please pardon. I am busy with important financial matter. All my efforts are for the betterment of countrymen and the Queen herself”, he said continuing the dramatic tone of Mrs Chitterchatter.

Mrs Chitterchatter grew curious. “Her Highness summons you to furnish details”

“Her Highness, I am checking out the performance of the certain shares and the mutual funds. I am keeping a close tab on the macro economic developments so as to diversify our portfolio”

Handing his laptop to her, he added, “I alone am not enough. A generous help from Queen is much appreciated”

“What favour can the Queen do to you, Lieutenant?”

Feeling content that he has won this bastion, Mrs Balanced put forth his demand. “Wish the Queen to lend me a hand. She should come up with the comparative study of the Mutual Funds available in market and suggest a few for investment. Her Highness can use resources available on line, news channels, financial daily etc”

Mrs Chitterchatter is always ‘in’ when embarking on new project. And here was the opportunity to earn the “Xtra- bucks”!

“Request granted”, declared she with enthusiasm.

Mrs Chitterchatter being a post graduate in management, knew a thing or two about the financial markets.

First day of her expedition…

She was browsing through a particular money matters site. It had loads of ads that kept distracting her. About an hour into the exploration, she caved in. She fell for an online advertisement that had a lovely collection of hand bags promising up to 50% off. That’s quite a saving she thought and a good break too!

Outcome? From the hand bags, she moved on to the apparel shopping and then foot ware! By end of it all, she had forgotten that she was on mission, a mission to earn xtra bucks and not on a spending spree!

Next day dawned.

She promised herself that she would stay away from online sites. Instead, she would read the financial newspaper. She dug out a pile of pink ones. Making herself comfortable on the sofa chair, she flipped the pages of the first one. Day trading guide, what to buy-sell, market trends, earning watch etc all presented a jumbled view of the financial market. Where one indicator pointed to the gloomy picture, the other showed it in lime light. It was way beyond her digestion level. Soon she was heard snoring. She later blamed it to having curd rice for lunch!

Come evening and Mr Balanced checked, “How’s your expedition going on Her Highness?”

“Have just started”, came a placid reply with a half-hearted smile.

Giving a pat on her back, he said “Keep going. Don’t stop”

The third day saw Mrs Chitterchatter turn on the TV. Heading straight to the ones that catered to the financial markets, she avoided the booby trap of her favourite channels. On one such channel, she found a speakers dolling out details of the NAVs of various mutual funds, another part of the screen had some data rolling over faster than Usain Bolt and yet another part displaying breaking news. She couldn’t concentrate on any part of the screen. She changed the channel. But the story was no different here too! After surfing 2-3 such channels, she took refuge in Discovery channel!

Before calling it a day that night, she declared, “Expedition ‘Xtra-bucks’ is on hold till further announcement at Queen’s end. Lieutenant has been conferred the additional responsibility of taking care of it”. After the announcement she turned her back to Mr Balanced and pulled the blanket well over her head!

Lolololol! Some things are best left to Mr Balanced, so we can have Mrs Chitterchatter write about them!:)

Ha ha ha, had a fun time reading this! I can understand these mutual funds and all can be sleep inducing. Good Mrs. Chitterchatter left it to Mr. Balanced. Also, the lure of the discounts on various online shopping sites is too much to resist!

Best left to Mr Balanced! Great fun, I would be like Mrs Chitterchatter too – too impatient to spend the money 🙂

Moneymaking is best left to Mr Balanced. Is that why he is called that coz he can balance his budget? Lol.

HAHA in our case, I push the man of the house more to get into making those Xtra bucks. I suggest Mutual Finds and the other avenues to invest in. ANd he actually listens to me, cause he trusts my judgment

knightofsteel · April 28, 2018 at 4:50 pm

So so relatable this one. I cant get my head around everything going on in those financial channels. O only know one thing, green is good and red is bad.
