As she marches the unknown path ahead,

She leaves back , in our hearts, a longing thread.

For years, she stood like the Rock Of Gibraltar,

Always guiding and never letting us falter.

Braving the storms, standing tall in Sun and rain,

Never she displayed, ever a streak of pain.

Taking life head on, she was soldier brave,

Not even once, she sought a shelter or a cave.

Devotion and sacrifice stood by her side,

Under the umbrella of her love, we all sailed with stride.

A teacher, an aunt, a sister, a family head and so much more,

She is a gem of a person who’s compassionate to the core.

Now that she lays her armour to the ground,

I wish her a smooth journey outbound.

May she find everlasting peace and bliss,

With a heavy heart, I plant a final kiss!

I dedicate this poem to the Iron Pillar of my life, my aunt Shanta G Khare, fondly known as Didi. She was my teacher, my Guru, and the Headmistress of the school and Junior College where I was groomed. Learnt what is meant by the saying, “When life throws lemons at you, make a lemonade”, from her. “Impossible”, was the word that was not in her dictionary.  Whatever little, that I can pen, is all courtesy her tutelage. Didi, I love you and you will always remain very special in my heart…

I so loved the way you expressed your feelings. I always thought we need some events in our lives to let those words flow freely in our poems. It is only when we go through some.kind of pain or emotion the poet in us flows free. Thumbs up thrice for this wonderful wordings. May God bless your aunt in all special ways. Two demises in my family in just 15 days I empathize with you on every word. I understand where you’re coming from. This is a great way to honor someone you feel so highly about. I’m sure Shanta didi must have been a much greater person for she made you a great person too. The best part about great souls is that they never leave us. I only want to remember the cheerful faces of the two people who left me and my family. Yes, it’s a loss forever, but it’s destiny too. And I’m happy that their sufferings ended. Stay happy, Anagha coz that’s what Shanta did would want for you too. 🙂
