He was nervous. His face mirrored the tell a tale signs.

“Relax, young man! Enjoy the shoot”

“Am trying”

“Hands on sides. Chin up” instructed the photographer.

Abiding by the instructions he adjusted his position on the stool. “Is that all right?”

“Expressions, where are they? Man, you are enjoying the hilly breeze, aren’t you? Let that thought prevail on your mind”

“Aint easy”, he muttered.

A thought about the number of likes ticking with every passing second on his social media account splashed across his mind and a smile line descended on his face.

“That’s perfect”

“Cool! Hope the clicks turn out convincing”

“You bet! Change your clothes. We’ve to shoot for the beach location”, instructed the photographer.

With a sprint, he rushed to the changing room.

He was at the office of “Virtual World Tour” for a photo-shoot, cost of which was minuscule as compared to the price of tour to exotic island. Neither having time nor money to spend on vacation, he felt a void as he had nothing to share on social media. His craving for likes and comments on social media, compelled him to join “Make it or Fake it” Youngistan brigade!

Recently I came across a news article about the growing trend amongst the young generation to hire services for faking the vacation. As if this was not shocking enough for my sensibilities, I learnt that the sole purpose was to garner the likes and comments on the social media accounts. I have christened them as “Make it or Fake it Youngistan brigade”
What do you think about this new trend? Have you come across nerds and nuts who have already joined this brigade? Do let me know…

Perfect title and beautiful write up.

my recent research on social media has made my jaws dropped even after my experience and of knowledge those i have gathered in last few years.
Some people can go to any extent to get “like” and “comments”.

This was such a unique take. I saw a video once about a couple faking a holiday like this. It’s beyond stupid.
