Abrianna waited patiently outside the sonologists cabin for her turn. It was the last trimester of pregnancy. She was escorted by Purva and Partho.

When her eyes met Purva’s, a wave of uneasiness lashed the shores of her heart.

To ward it off, she glanced outside. An interchange was under construction.

Should she finish the chapter in life without getting emotional? Could she continue with a new addition in life, on her own? Which way?

Thoughts gathered the momentum of a hurricane.

To shut them, she plugged earphone into her ears and tuned to FM on mobile.

“Rockabye baby Rockabye, I am gonna…”, went the song.

A tear rolled down her cheek. A faint line of smile sailed.

She decided to carry on with the baby as her own. She resolved to raise money to serve the surrogacy pact with Partho and Purva!

Though surrogate, she was a mother now

Nice one. Surrogacy is not popular yet but that is one way to experience motherhood.

Surrogacy is used in the United States, but I don’t think there are public records indicating how many babies have been born in that way. I know mothers do it for various reasons, and I have to believe a number of them end up wanting to keep their babies.

Be it any form of Motherhood each has its own significance. A mothers feelings can’t die down so soon.

Beautiful post Anagha, Surrogate or Real – she is a Mother for real.

Namratha · February 5, 2018 at 3:58 pm

It would be really difficult to give up the baby who she has been a part of her for so long. I get her decision

writershilpa · February 5, 2018 at 4:11 pm

I am glad Adrianna made the decision of keeping her baby. It sure must have been a tussle between her mind and her heart. But, she will now be a mother!

Roma Gupta Sinha · February 5, 2018 at 4:15 pm

Quite an impressive take Anagha, glad you weaved it around this theme buddy. A mom is a mom, surrogate or otherwise.

BellyBytes · February 6, 2018 at 11:04 am

OMG another stunner from you. I don’t really know what I feel about surrogacy and admire the lady who bears the baby , going through the discomfort and the pain….. it’s hard enough to do it naturally and possibly worse to do it for either the money or love……….

Akshata Ram · February 6, 2018 at 11:57 am

That was a brilliant one Anagha.

You’ve shed light on the feelings of a surrogate perfectly. The tug in their heart and mind as the birth nears must be like this.
Very unfair to the couple who have been waiting patiently with hope though.

I think there are no rules to support the surrogate mother of she decides to keep the baby. But it is something I wondered many times about the choice made by a surrogate mother.

Anagha, facing some issue in sharing to Twitter from here.

    Anagha Yatin · February 7, 2018 at 10:47 am

You are right Lata. I have raised a concern with Twitter regarding this. Hope to hear from them…

    Anagha Yatin · February 7, 2018 at 11:02 am

    Thanks dear for the concern.

rashimital · February 7, 2018 at 12:25 pm

I feel surrogacy is extremely difficult. Not only does one go through all the hardships/pleasures of pregnancy, she gives away the most treasured part of her, which is nurtured as her own. It is not easy to part with one’s child knowingly or unknowingly. Hats off to surrogate mothers. They are much above us. And being on the pregnancy road again, I can’t even imagine how strong a surrogate mother’s heart is.

beautiful Anagha <3 Love Love Loved it.

Lavanya · February 7, 2018 at 11:07 pm

What a beautiful unexpected take on the prompt. You captured a mother’s grief on the parting of her unborn perfectly!

Meha Sharma · February 8, 2018 at 12:34 am

Beautiful narration Anagha. As always you translated the picture prompt into a wonderful tale.

Tina Basu · February 8, 2018 at 10:59 am

That was an emotional tale Anagha, surely a surrogate mother must be having these kinds of feelings – its 9 months with the baby inside, afterall. Thanks for linking up with #FridayFotoFiction.

The pain and confusion of making this decision is so eminent in this story Anagha! Loved your word play with the name!!
