It was late in the evening.
The last express train had just left.
Happy feet started walking
with strides towards stair case. The languid feet took their normal path
counting the money collected after selling stuff. Some tottering feet lumbered
before figuring where to head. Few pairs of little feet stumbled, toddled their
way behind the big ones.
Three pairs of feet found a
spot to settle on the platform. The slithery pair of feet walked away. A
lullaby that she sang made the evening hour slumberous. The tiny feet curled up
to sleep. There was a long sigh. The slithery feet returned.
Kissing the tiny feet, the feeble
pair of feet stood up, dragged behind the one in a hurry.
I wished to reach out to the
baby to cuddle, to the cold-hearted feet to stop.
But…
With poker face, trussed hands,
I could only churn doleful  “Tick-tock, tick….”
