The 12th month of the year packs with it the punch of thrill, enthusiasm and hope. December proffers ‘4 in 1’ package to me, rather to most of us. Puzzled…bet you are! For ‘4 in 1’ stands for festivity, family, friends and food. That naturally means gifts, memories to make and cherish.

December’18, however, had an added quotient, “#CelebrateWithWriteTribe” Insta challenge. I took the challenge with only mission to wipe out ‘Insta illiterate’ watermark on me. Challenges are fun and adventure spelt in different alphabets. Taking up the Insta challenge, ushered the “Word Of The Year”  aka #WOTY for me, which I had never thought of when I started with the challenge.  Rather I would say, the challenge already had wrapped a gift of this insight for me to unwrap!

While working on the prompt ‘Plans and Goals for 2019’, I did a recap of the year that was. Life was like fresh and juicy bunch of grapes, mostly sweet, a few times sour. “Lagom”, my WOTY2018, had guided me to navigate throughout the 12 months, netting me a good catch of the insights and contentment.

Now that I had a year of experience in maintaining the balance, stage was set to further the life and its experience. How would I achieve that, was the question which assumed the proportion that I could not ignore anymore. In crept the word, “FocusTa-da!

Like every ordinary woman, in her forties, with a family of four, I have my tasks cut. That “I” has a personal corner as well; a corner that longed to write; a corner that needed to be fit and fine! The resultant geometric figure that shaped up in my mind was an equilateral triangle that has three equal sides and three vertices. A golden triangle, I would say. One vertex belonged to my family, other to my health and third to the blogger me.

Without a plan to justify each vertex of my golden triangle, everything would be rendered a mere wish. All that I needed to do now was to dedicate my energy and set my priorities towards each vertex without hampering the balance of the life.

Zig Ziglar’s famous quote, “Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four-hour days”, reminded me that being focused will help me stay on track and make the next 365 days, a journey to remember.

Focus is a must for me while tending to various needs of my family members, as I play the central supportive role. Planning and scheduling various activities on day to day level as well as for short term is what I intended to undertake.

Focus is utmost important, I have learnt last year, on my health front. There is only one place on Earth, where one can live, reside and that is none other than one’s body. Including lifestyle changes and maintaining the strict regime of exercise would help me if I stay focused. Healthier me, fitter me, happy me! I have decided to be regular with my yoga sessions and evening walk.

Focus on channeling my creative pursuits is last and a very dear frontier of my life. Blogging descended on my horizon recently and it took me by storm. After whirling with this storm for two and half years, I now wish to make it a streamlined affair. Focus will help me build a robust regime of writing regularly. The other side of the coin with “writing” on it, has “reading” written in bold. I wish to focus on improving my reading score this year. To help me on this count, I have challenged myself to read 24 books this year.

Equipped with focused thoughts, I am sure, I will have the HD clarity in life and its experience… merrier and better!

Resolutions post realizations lead to a better journey in our lives. Yes trying to Focus is the hardest as we are mis- directed by our own mind many at times to not do what we need to do. The daily tussle with the mind is a phenomena in itself. All the best for better focus this year. Hope you manage your 3 vertices well and achieve success.

Cool post on Focus, we all need to get around to it and focus on that!! 😀

    Anagha Yatin · January 9, 2019 at 4:03 pm

I can only imagine how far you will go with focus! Good for you to choose this word because as you quoted, it is lack of direction rather than time that prevents us from achieving our goals. I know you went through a rough patch towards the end of the year so don’t be too hard on yourself if your 2018 goals remained unfulfilled….. Looking forward to reading more of your cheery posts! Good luck and keep smiling Anagha

Thanks Sunita for reaching out to me, when I was little lost, battling the health issue. As rightly indicated by you, I did loose on some counts but learnt a quite a few lessons. Now in the hind sight, I feel that lessons learnt outweighed the things I missed.
Thanks for visiting and uplifting my morale with your comment.
