She stood up, dusting her hands. Stepping back, she checked it all over again.
A smile prevailed on her tired face. Gently pressing her palm and fingers, she glanced at wrist watch. She had been working on it for hours together.
“What a respite! Finished well within time, before the guests start pouring in”, she reflected.
“Something is amiss”, she thought as she glanced at the Bougainvillea. “Should it be in full bloom?”, she doubted. “Summers are not in full swing yet. That means the creeper has just begun its journey towards full bloom”, she justified.
Smiling at the tussle between the perfection and the accomplishment, she cleaned her hands of the colours.
Keeping her contestant’s badge besides the Rangoli design she has made, she floated a kiss towards her creation.
“All the contestants are requested to gather at the central hall”, came the announcement.
She crossed her fingers…

Recently I came across amazing Rangoli creations by various artists, thanks to forwarded “whats app” message. I was bowled over by the skills of the artists. Most of the designs appeared as though they were actual photographs or the paintings! There was so much of life in them that it was hard to believe that they were made out of Rangoli.
Before encountering these designs, Rangoli I knew was either traditional free hand consisting of leaves and flowers or Sanskar Bharati or geometric patterns using dots or variations like floating Rangoli, charcoal Rangoli, etc. The new form of the Rangoli mesmerized me. I could not stop appreciating the efforts, hard work, craftsmanship of the artists.
They say that creativity is intelligence having fun; making Rangoli designs is the best example of it, isnt it? Have you tried your hands at making Rangoli? If yes, then you know the satisfaction one gets after completing it. And if no, then why dont you give it try now…

Creativity is fun, creativity is mind at its birlliance, Creativity keeps the brain ticking… having said that I aint that very creative, I do dabble with a it of rangoli, but never ever have been a steady hand at it.

I love Rangoli though cant make awesome ones but as you said get mesmerised by the artists they make it look do simple. But whatever we can make Rangoli sure adds to any celebrations always brings in positive vibes

I can’t do a rangoli. I am not artistic but would want to learn painting. Someday maybe.
