Month of May is spelt as mangoes, relatives and vacation! An inseparable part of it is eating out, making merry and lots of clicks to browse through later on. One such week end, as a family tradition, all the four members of my family sat down for a “May rewind”. The idea is simple, flood the USB with all the snaps and videos and visit not so distant moments of past, in the comforts of the home theater.

Here I was, well settled on the sofa after a scrumptious lunch. Overcast skies were singing lullabies already.  I usually start with the sofa and end up on the floor snoozing, only to be brought back to the theatre over ruckus on some snap by the rest of the enthusiastic members!

It was going to be history and reason was none other than my new ‘rotund avatar’!

Few snaps into the routine, as I was about to embark on snoozing train, I was jolted by one snap. It had the magnanimous Himalayan mountain and me. The magnanimity of the mountain failed to catch my fancy as my breadbasket was peeping inconspicuously to steal the show, rather spoil it. ‘The angle is not correct’, I reasoned. I pulled up my better half for not freezing the moment in the right perspective. He gave me a cold look and we browsed further. As we did that, my ears picked up a croaking sound. No one seemed to have noticed it. I, thus ignored it and went ahead with the flow.

Few clicks later, I encountered another shocker. This time it was plumper bough that was defying the sleeve margins of the t-shirt! I sat upright into my seat and demanded to scrutinize the snap from closer quarters. Instructing to focus on the challenged part of the body, another eye opener greeted me. The biceps and triceps that I was proud of, being an athlete, were engulfed by the mighty and dangling flesh! ‘I should not have purchased this t-shirt. It was not the best choice right from the beginning. Let’s not buy anything in hurry next time”, I reproached myself.

Herd the croaking again. It was louder and came from a closer distance than the earlier one. No one else appeared to have heard it this time as well. Inspecting the faces of other three, who stared at me for the approval to go ahead, I realised the croaking originated right in my own mind sphere. I was the only audience for this exclusive premier of release of the croaking soundtrack!

Signalling to go ahead, I tried to subdue the nuisance. “You have put on”, “Gravity has challenged you”, “Wake up and climb on to the weighing scale”, “You look like a stuffed toy made by the amateur hands”, “Face the test of mirror” and many such croaks belched, leading to a croaking donnybrook!

“Chubby chicks, double chin, grey hair, mighty affair. Weight-check is due, why don’t you? Roly-poly diskette, isnt that you?” went the parody song, in my mind, adding to my irritability. This was the second track that was premiering in my ears though I had not purchased the tickets of this “plump show”.

I tried to shun the blaring sound by putting my hands on ears. I struggled to close my eyes from criticizing further snaps, with my palms. I was about to shout aloud, “Stop torturing my leaner self-esteem”. I battled to seal my mouth with my trembling fingers. But in vain! While doing so, hands felt heavier to lift than ever… making me realise that there was no other way to quell the croaks than promising myself to get in shape sooner!

Croaks do mark their presence, every now and then when I waddle off the promised track!

The setting reminded me a little bit of Hum Saath Saath Hain. And the croaking, well that could well be me.

    Anagha Yatin · June 20, 2018 at 4:48 pm

This post well could have been christened “Hum Sath Sath hai”… specially me and my extra weight ?
You gave me a reason to smile dear!

BellyBytes · June 20, 2018 at 6:15 pm

He unless you’ve put on weight over the past few days, you looked perfectly fine to me….. But of course one does put on weight over the years. It adds to the Gravitas you know….. Bingo wings? Tone them up.

    Anagha Yatin · June 20, 2018 at 6:32 pm

I so love you Sunita for ignoring my gravitationally challenged avatar. Or may be because you have not seen me earlier!
For bingo wings I have another name. You would love to hear that…”Dandadhikari”! I have to tone them up before they ruin the tone of every other pic of mine.
On a serious note, I must check in the trend of increasing weight for enjoying life better.

      BellyBytes · June 20, 2018 at 6:54 pm

I love the dandahikari. For that you surely need to have formidable bingo wings. You don’t have to inrease weight to enjoy life, you just have to enjoy life despite everything.

        Anagha Yatin · June 20, 2018 at 8:39 pm

        Agree that 🙂

Balaka · June 20, 2018 at 6:20 pm

    Anagha Yatin · June 20, 2018 at 6:34 pm

Better than shedding the tears, I suppose 😉 Cause shedding tears wont help me reduce my weight, Balaka! Thanks dear for visiting and appreciation!
